Description: Millersville University of Pennsylvania is recruiting for a Director of Environmental Health and Safety. Under the general supervision of the Associate Vice President for Facilities, Safety and Sustainability, the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Director provides proactive and comprehensive oversight, development, implementation, and management of new and existing EHS programs for the University.

Required: Bachelor’s degree in safety, chemistry, biology, environmental health and safety, emergency management, industrial hygiene, engineering, or a related field and a minimum of five years of progressive relevant job experience in an EHS position OR the equivalent combination of education and experience to successfully perform the duties of the job; Comprehensive working knowledge of regulations such as OSHA, EPA, NFPA, NIOSH, ASHRAE, FEMA, PEMA, and PA DOH; Qualified Provider for Workers Comp Self-Insurance (PAL&I) or obtained within the first six months of employment; Proficient and competent with all Microsoft Office software and database applications; Demonstrated oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills; Proficiency in writing reports and trending data; Demonstrated ability to develop presentations and address diverse audiences; Possess strong team building skills; Evidence of a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion; Valid driver’s license; Successful interview; Successful completion of three background checks.
Preferred: Master’s degree or higher in areas listed above or another field; Experience exceeding the required qualifications; Professional certifications ASP/CSP; Certified 40 Hour Emergency Chemical Responder (HazWoper); NIMS certifications (ICS 100, 200, 300, 400 and 700); EPA/PADEP Asbestos Inspector; Certified IH; Other relevant certifications and licenses; Experience in a higher education environment; Experience in a union environment.
