Job Summary:
Plans and implements network/telecommunication system, product and/or service installation projects ensuring that goals and objectives are attained.  Provides instruction to and supervises staff.


Specific Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning

  • Analyzes individual building infrastructures and recommends and coordinates remedial changes as necessary while evaluating fit of new technologies.


  • Authors Scopes of Work for medium to large sized projects.
  • Modifies procedures to assist in effective operations of areas of responsibility.
  • Manages and coordinates Network Plant projects.
  • Works collaboratively with other units in Information Technology.


  • Coordinates medium to large installation, repair or adjustment projects working closely with peers and users to deliver optimum service.
  • Performs such tasks as replacing components, wiring circuits, taking test readings, and evaluating problems.
  • Performs complex preventive maintenance tasks in accordance with established practices.
  • Maintains copper and fiber outside plant facility per NU Standards.
  • Performs Technical Field Work as needed.


  • Leads diagnoses of complex hardware, software and/or network malfunctions in accordance with established practices.
  • Diagnoses complex hardware, software and/or network malfunctions in accordance with established practices.
  • Collaborates with other technicians, peers and Manager to solve various situations   


  • Provides work direction and/or supervises staff such as team members, subordinates, contractors, vendors, students, etc.
  • Recommends staff hires/terminations.
  • Coaches and mentors staff.
  • Manages projects ensuring timelines and deliverables are met and meet expectations.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • 3 years of communications wiring and installation work experience or comparable accredited technical training is required.
