About This Role
The Veterinary Health Center (VHC) within the College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking a Veterinary Nurse II to join our dedicated Triage Call Center team to help facilitate exemplary patient care and quality customer service This position provides veterinary support and performs semi-routine tasks in the Triage Call Center section of the Veterinary Health Center at Kansas State University. They will provide assistance to veterinarian staff in coordinating the care of patients. This includes answering phones, triaging calls, collecting patient information, communicating with owners on behalf of the services to relay information, and helping facilitate communications to necessary personnel. This position requires a high level of working clinical knowledge and experience to accomplish tasks and gather the appropriate and necessary information for patient care. Working hours for this position will include Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm.

What You'll Need to Succeed
Minimum Qualifications:
• Completion of a two-year college program in veterinary or animal technology accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA).
• 2 years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Knowledge of basic veterinary medical concepts, animal behavior and animal husbandry.
• Advanced knowledge of nursing care, service flow, and section requirements.
• Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
• Ability to understand diagnostic procedures.
• Ability to adhere to appropriate safety procedures.
• Ability to prioritize daily tasks.
• Ability to work in high intensity environment.
• Skilled in interpersonal communication.
• Skilled in written communication.
• Ability to answer multiple phone lines.
• Ability to make sound decisions in a stressful situation.
• Ability to train other employees.
• Be willing to master new techniques.
• Ability to prioritize and recognize the most effective & efficient process to accomplish the daily workflow.
• Adaptable to different computer systems/advanced computer skills.
Additional licenses / registrations / certifications:
• The College of Veterinary Medicine requires that new hires must obtain a Kansas license as a Veterinary Technician within 6 months of employment. Advancing staff must have obtained their Kansas license as a Veterinary Technician prior to advancement.
Sponsorship eligibility:
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis without sponsorship.
