About This Role:
The Academic Development Coordinator is a full-time, 12-month position, which reports directly to the Program Director for the McNair Scholars Program. This position is responsible for coordinating appropriate academic support services for accepted McNair Scholars. This includes hiring and supervising tutors, as well as providing writing instruction to help students improve their ability to write with clear purpose and focus, and to develop writing skills related to audience, organization, genre, style, and professional editing. The position will also assist with the development and facilitation of graduate preparation curriculum to student participants, and will assist with program promotion, recruitment, and selection of participants.

What You'll Need to Succeed:
Minimum Qualifications:

• Requires a bachelor's degree and one year of relevant experience.
• This position may use an educational equivalency as determined relevant by a hiring manager.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's degree in English or other writing-intensive field
• Experience teaching or tutoring writing
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in diverse genres
• Experience working with diverse populations from varied socioeconomic backgrounds
• Experience working with students in higher education

Other Requirements:

• Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States at the time of employment.
